We were talking to the Spallones at Spring Fling and we all decided that it would be a good idea to continue to bring meals to the Spallones. The day to day chores seem overwhelming and they have agreed to have more meals come their way. Not only do the meals help with the daily routines, a visitor from friends and neighbors would be most welcoming.

I have set up a calendar for Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Please sign up for for one, two or three days. I have left the calendar open for an extended period of time. Bob and Beth will let us know if there are days that will not work.

Howard Warso was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in September, 2013. He has lost his ability to speak and communicates by writing and with his Tobii (Speech Generated Device).

Howard is reasonably independent, but at times he needs assistance getting his formula into the feeding tube by way of his pump. Additionally, he has a need to do breathing treatments to keep his lungs clear and to avoid any saliva pooling.

At present we are looking for someone to just drop in to see that all is o.k. and if he needs help. Typically Howard will sleep until 10 or 11 a.m. We would be looking for care during the day.

At present we do not need skilled care, just helpful companionship.

Connor and his family need some assistance.  Connor is a 3 year old active little boy that recently broke his femur bone in his left leg.  He is now totally immobile.  Teresa just found out that she cannot get a Home Health Nurse to help out occasionally. 

Some of the things this family could use is One pot meals that can be put in the Crock Pot.  One pan meals that can thrown in the oven.  Nothing fancy or expensive.  There are 2 other children in the family.  A 2 year old and 6 year old.  Connor will have to go in for weekly ortho appmts so some occasional childcare might be needed for one or both of the other 2 children. 

I know this is a busy time of the year and I, grandma, will be up there from Christmas and stay the month of January to help.  Any help would be appreciated between now and when I get there.  Thank you to all.

On Easter Sunday around 3pm Waldo Jr. came home to a house smelling of smoke. He looked around and opened the door to the master bedroom, he saw flames and lots of smoke. He immediately shut the door (knowing that oxygen fuels fire). 911 was called and when the first responders arrived they were looking for Kathryn. When they knocked on her door (she was in her room with headphones on) she didn’t know what was going on and jumped out her window. All 3 people in the house got out safely.
The entire master bedroom is gone and there is extensive smoke damage to most of the house.

Katy and Waldo have always given to the community and we are wanting to help them out in an organized way. Check back for needs and updates on their situation.
