Elaine's helping hands is seeking trustworthy individuals to offer respite care for her elderly, disabled mother who needs continuous care. A full time worker, Elaine spends her evenings and weekends taking care of her aging mother, with little to no time for personal errands and commitments made prior to becoming a caregiver to her mom. President of her church's Philoptohos, Elaine finds even attending a Sunday morning service next to impossible now. If you are looking to spend a few hours of your weeknight/weekend with a sweet, elderly grandmother to help assist with activities of daily living, please feel free to join this community. Mom's needs include walking assistance, bathroom assistance, and general good company.

Howard's Caregivers

Howard Warso was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in September, 2013. He has lost his ability to speak and communicates by writing and with his Tobii (Speech Generated Device).

Howard is reasonably independent, but at times he needs assistance getting his formula into the feeding tube by way of his pump. Additionally, he has a need to do breathing treatments to keep his lungs clear and to avoid any saliva pooling.

At present we are looking for someone to just drop in to see that all is o.k. and if he needs help. Typically Howard will sleep until 10 or 11 a.m. We would be looking for care during the day.

At present we do not need skilled care, just helpful companionship.

We are all deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Richard Bentsen on May 2, 2013, just three days prior to his birthday. We remember and honor Richard as a loving son, parent, husband, friend, coworker and community member. Richard played a significant role in so many of our lives.

On Easter Sunday around 3pm Waldo Jr. came home to a house smelling of smoke. He looked around and opened the door to the master bedroom, he saw flames and lots of smoke. He immediately shut the door (knowing that oxygen fuels fire). 911 was called and when the first responders arrived they were looking for Kathryn. When they knocked on her door (she was in her room with headphones on) she didn’t know what was going on and jumped out her window. All 3 people in the house got out safely.
The entire master bedroom is gone and there is extensive smoke damage to most of the house.

Katy and Waldo have always given to the community and we are wanting to help them out in an organized way. Check back for needs and updates on their situation.
