About Friends of Ed

Ed Moritz, Kimo's step father who has lived with us since 2010 has struggled since last November to recover from a series of serious bacterial infections - one of which went to the lining of his heart. He has spent nearly 3 full months in Fair Oaks, Reston and Georgetown hospitals. Throughout the course of the treatment, Ed has maintained a positive attitude even amidst the challenges of the infections, a heart attack, a serious fall where he broke his neck, his nose and his front teeth. All of this has resulted in severe weakness and frailty, including his now being bedridden. When medical treatment and rehabilitation were no longer viable options, he agreed with the doctors that it was time to come home to the comforts of home, limited medical treatment and loving family care. As we've settled into our routine, we see that we can benefit from a little support. Many of our friends and family have offered to help and so we've put this calendar together for you to consider ways to help. We also want to keep you updated on Ed's status. Thank you everyone for your love, prayers, kindness and support. We appreciate all you are doing to support us in every way. Laura, Kimo, Maureen and the children
