Welcome to KidzKIND! KidzKIND is a community of parents and kids who engage in simple, short, hands-on activities that give back to the community and people in need. (Don’t tell your kids but it also builds connection, character, and confidence in your child.) Are screens a dominant part your kids' daily lives? Do you ever worry that all of that screen-time might stunt their compassion and ability to have real-world interaction with others? I do! I am a parent of two children aged 12 and 11. While I love technology, I also know that we need to make thoughtful decisions to spend time with our kids to help them build compassion for real, living and breathing people! Not just the kind that are on TV or on YouTube. Our first “short and sweet” service project will be at Gaining Ground in Concord, MA. http://gainingground.org WHAT: Harvesting fruit and vegetables at Gaining Ground, which grows organic produce for hunger relief with help from volunteers of all ages and abilities, who work and learn in their garden. In short, they grow food and give it away to people who need it. For free. WHEN: Saturday, August 17 9-11 am (I said short and sweet: perhaps a trip for ice cream after??) WHERE: Gaining Ground is located at the Thoreau Birthplace Farm property at 341 Virginia Rd, Concord, MA 01742. We hope to see you there!!
