Welcome to our Lotsa Helping Hands Community web site. Foreign Student Helping Hands (FSHH) is a community of support for foreign students studying in the Metro DC area. *** We provide all types of help, from meals to transportation to tutoring and more. It is a place for people in our area to go to request help as well as for volunteers to offer help and lend a hand. *** Many foreign students experience "culture shock" when they first arrive to study in the U.S. Many students arrive and have no local family or friends to make them feel welcome. If you are a foreign student and would like help to "settle in," we encourage you to participate here and let us know how we can help. Anyone who wishes to help is welcome to join our community as a supporter. *** The needs of foreign students vary. Many are here with very little financial support and resources. There are many ways to help our financially-challenged students. Supporters can provide meals and transportation... donate books... even donate frequent flyer miles so students can return to their home countries during breaks to visit their families. *** Other foreign students have the financial resources they need, but find that it difficult to integrate socially. This website is also a place to provide social and emotional support to help our guests feel at home. *** We hope you will explore this site. Students - please don't be shy to ask for help.
