About Michael Pruden's Helping Hands

Welcome to our Lotsa Helping Hands Community web site. This site provides a place for people in our area to go to request help as well as for volunteers to offer help and lend a hand. Well if you have not already heard, Mike Pruden one of Cedar Valley's family members and 8th grade U.S. History teachers has a new lease on life. If you knew Mike you knew he had been battling heart issues for a little more than a year and on June 12 he got "The phone call" that changed everything. The text he sent me at 6:45 pm on the 12th of June read "Hospital called and I have a match". What a great feeling that must have been (and scary at the same time). When I visited with Mike yesterday he and Amy told me that it was okay to share Mike's progress with everyone. Bottom line......Mike has had a successful heart transplant. WOW! Stop and think about that for a second. What a really really cool thing. All in all Mike is doing well and is extremely positive for someone who has a new heart, lost about 50 lbs in less than a month, has dealt with kidney failure issues since June 23rd and has been hooked up to all kinds of machines and taking lots of meds. If your are interested in assisting Mike's transition home please call Debi Casso at 512-428-2316.
