Join the Circle of Helping Hands…
Help Us Create Community

Imagine a world where creating caring communities – wherever there is a need – becomes a recognized way for all of us to find meaning in both giving and receiving. At Lotsa Helping Hands, this is the vision that guides us every day. To achieve it, we need your help.

Community members frequently write us to express gratitude for our free-of-charge service and inquire about how they might help. We are committed to reaching more people about our service so that caring communities can be created wherever there is a need. This year alone, nearly 1 million people discovered Lotsa Helping Hands and helped loved ones, friends, and colleagues in need.

Yet, there is much work to be done. We ask that you join the Circle of Helping Hands, and consider making a contribution to help us reach even more people in need. Learn more by clicking on one of the links below:

Why Your Help Is Needed

We want to create caring communities wherever there is a need. We remain committed to providing our service free-of-charge to all communities, and so the growth of Lotsa Helping Hands is supported by companies who pay us a fee to offer a specialized version of our service to their customers and employees. As many industries reduce budgets in response to current economic challenges, however, our plans have slowed too. Unfortunately, now more than ever, people need help from caring communities. To expand our reach, we need your help.

2 Things You Can Do To Help

#1 Contribute.

We ask that you consider making a contribution to help us reach more people in need. Maybe it’s $1 for each day your community has been active. Or perhaps it’s $10, $50, $100, or more. Whether you’ve benefitted from the support of your community or you’re grateful for having a way to offer help to those you care about, we hope you see your contribution – whatever the amount – as both a tribute to your community as well as a legacy for future caring communities. As a small expression of our thanks, we will send you a Lotsa Helping Hands window sticker for your contribution to the Circle of Helping Hands. For contributions of $100 or more, we will send you an eco-friendly tote bag to help with daily errands.

You can make a contribution in two different ways:

  1. Make a secure online payment using Pay Pal (you do not need a Pay Pal account to process your credit card payment).

#2 Tell a Friend.

Chances are you know a family caregiver supporting a loved one who could benefit from having a caring community created at Lotsa Helping Hands. Maybe it’s a friend or neighbor dealing with a medical crisis, or a colleague managing eldercare responsibilities. Or perhaps your local school or neighborhood association is trying to coordinate volunteer activities. Click here to Tell a Friend today.

Among the more than 45,000 Lotsa Helping Hands communities, here are just a few examples of awe-inspiring community support:

  • A 41-year old mother diagnosed with breast cancer, facing surgery and months of chemotherapy, has peace of mind knowing that her two young sons will have warm dinners and play dates.
  • A navy officer deployed to Iraq four days after the birth of his third child, has less stress knowing that his wife is not alone.
  • A young couple left homeless after a devastating fire that also hospitalized their 1-year old triplets, were embraced by hundreds of community volunteers offering coordinated help.

Why Your Contributions Are Not Tax-Deductible

Lotsa Helping Hands is not a 501(c)3 organization, and therefore contributions to Lotsa Helping Hands are not tax-deductible. Instead, we have chosen to align ourselves with the global movement referred to as ‘social entrepreneurship’, in the belief that while there is much social good done by nonprofit organizations, there are enormous benefits when social ventures are combined with more traditional business principles. Confirmation of this movement occurred when the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to a social entrepreneur who radically transformed the social landscape through innovative changes in the way bank lending is offered to the very poor.

Because Lotsa Helping Hands was inspired by the outpouring of support during our own caregiving experiences, we have a strong commitment to giving back ourselves. We regularly donate to the nonprofit sector by providing pro bono expertise to the more than 50 nonprofit Partners we serve.

How Your Contributions Are Being Used

With the help of contributions from the many people such as you who have already benefitted from our service, we can intensify our marketing efforts and increase our reach to even more family caregivers and those who support them.

  1. Healthcare-related companies wish to keep family caregivers healthy. The healthcare industry is very aware that family caregivers are themselves more susceptible to falling seriously ill from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and depression as a result of severe stress. We would like to increase our marketing efforts to healthcare-related companies who see our service as another way to help keep family caregivers healthy and thus reduce overall healthcare costs.
  2. Employers help their employees achieve better work/life balance. Several landmark studies have shown that family caregiving employees cost their employers between $17B and $33B annually in productivity loss as these employees arrive to work late, leave early, or miss work entirely. We have already embarked on an initiative to address these work/life balance issues through Lotsa Helping Hands and now need to step up our efforts to reach the tens of thousands of employers who could provide this benefit to their employees.
  3. Military family members don’t have to feel so alone. So many young military families are affected when one parent is deployed overseas, leaving the remaining spouse to deal with existing family caregiving issues. It is so natural for the community of military families to come together to provide assistance to each other – especially if they use a resource such as Lotsa Helping Hands. Numerous military organizations addressing family issues could benefit from ‘distributing’ our service. We wish to proactively reach out to these many organizations to introduce our caregiving coordination service.
